Waking up from teaching is like waking up the day after a really intense workout: muscles that you didn't even know you had are sore. The small feats of interpersonal communication that your brain lazily processes are suddenly revved up to on-crack levels.

Though the all-day announcements at my summer school are kind of annoying, it makes my hour when the principal gets on to “remind young ladies, you are not on Jersey Shore” and, even better, to “remind the young men to please cover up your private parts.”

(Every time he says “private parts,” I giggle to myself.)
